My impression of the boy is that even though he is bored and wants to play with
the other children, expressed in the phrase,"And other boredom-beating tricks" he is reclusive and thinks that the other children will not accept him into their cliques. The children on the other hand don't take the initiative to include the loner in their circle as he stays away from them. This is expressed in the statements,
"His loneness is his shell and shield, And neither he nor we will yield."

I have learnt that we first impressions are important as they can give an outlook on a character's (or person's) personality. But I have also learnt that first impressions alone cannot decide someone's character traits. Take for example the joker, on first glance he seems like a merciless villan. Which, in part, is what he is. But delve deeper into his past and you find that it is one of abuse and tragedy.

Do I sympathize with the joker :

No I do not sympathize with the joker. He is a maniacal killer on the brink of insanity venting his planned revenge on Batman. His past may have been disastrous but even though batman has tried to rehabilitate him many times he refuses the offer, obviously choosing a criminal life over a more righteous one. His insanity is tinged with cruelty and a disregard for human life. This makes him even more of a threat as he shows the lack of conscience ( ie. killing his accomplices without a second thought). Also, in the Wikipedia article relating to the movie clip we watched, it is stated that the actor who played the joker thought the film's version of the character was that of a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy." So, all in all, I agree with the actor on the villan's personality and do not sympathize with him.
