Do I sympathize with the joker :

No I do not sympathize with the joker. He is a maniacal killer on the brink of insanity venting his planned revenge on Batman. His past may have been disastrous but even though batman has tried to rehabilitate him many times he refuses the offer, obviously choosing a criminal life over a more righteous one. His insanity is tinged with cruelty and a disregard for human life. This makes him even more of a threat as he shows the lack of conscience ( ie. killing his accomplices without a second thought). Also, in the Wikipedia article relating to the movie clip we watched, it is stated that the actor who played the joker thought the film's version of the character was that of a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy." So, all in all, I agree with the actor on the villan's personality and do not sympathize with him.
